UCSB Strength and Conditioning

Year-round preparation is the key to great performances. The UCSB strength and conditioning program is dedicated to generating training programs 12 months out of the year so that Gaucho athletes have the best opportunity to achieve. Although new methods and ideas continue to appear, there remains simple and effective means that over decades have been proven to be more valuable.

Our goal is simple and effective: improve through scientific, evidence-based training principles and methods, the physical qualities necessary for athletic success. While speed, power, strength and flexibility are developed, our training priority is reducing the incidence, severity and risk of injury on the playing field.

Reflecting our philosophy, the intercollegiate training facility is equipped with eight weight lifting platforms and power racks, eight Ivanko and fourteen Eleiko weight lifting bars.

A complement of dumbbells, selectorized machines, pulley systems and medicine balls supplement our 2-5 day per week training regimens. Each of our nearly 500 student-athletes are assigned team training times to ensure organization, supervision and safety.
